Wednesday, December 10th, 2008: Cubs-White Sox Deal: Soriano for Jenks
The rumor has been going on for a while now, but today it was made official. The Chicago (N) Cubs sent 32-year old left fielder Alfonso Soriano and 33-year old second baseman Mark DeRosa to the Chicago (A) White Sox for 27-year old closer Bobby Jenks.

Officials from both teams seem to be pleased with the deal.

During his career Soriano has hit for a .283 average and totaled 1428 hits, 269 home runs and 726 RBIs.

Jenks has saved 117 games in his career with 246 strikeouts in 240.2 innings pitched. He has also racked up a 10-18 record and a 3.14 ERA.
Sunday, October 5th, 2008: Command Performance! Buehrle No-Hits Minnesota!
In a dominant outing, Mark Buehrle of Chicago (A) totally silenced the bats of the Minnesota Twins. In the 2-0 victory he faced only 29 batters, surrendered no hits, had 2 strikeouts and 2 walks.

"I'll be very honest with you," his manager said. "I didn't know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning. I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had. Then I happened to notice that they didn't have any hits."

Commenting on his defeat, the losing manager told reporters in the clubhouse how he saw the game, "Well, it was pretty simple today, the White Sox had all the hits and all the runs. And Buehrle pitched a heck of ballgame."

To date in 2008, Buehrle sports a 18-10 mark with a 3.94 ERA in 36 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .281 batting average and has 156 strikeouts in 251.1 innings.
