Tuesday, March 24th, 2009: Phillips Out 2 Weeks with Injury
Brandon Phillips at first refused to leave today's Colorado-Washington game after he suffered a strained hamstring muscle while running the bases. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I'm a competitor," the feisty Washington second baseman said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Phillips out of action for 2 weeks.

Thursday, March 12th, 2009: Masterson Out for 1-2 Weeks
The Nationals received bad news this morning. Justin Masterson will miss 1-2 weeks due to a strained back muscle. In the Washington-Arizona game he sustained the injury while throwing a pitch. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," Masterson sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery."

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009: Star SS Renteria Settles on Washington
Washington officials presented Edgar Renteria to the media this afternoon as their latest signing.

The 33-year-old will make $14,500,000 a year over the course of his 6-year deal.

In his all-time stats Renteria is hitting .292 with 2093 hits, 122 home runs, 1086 runs scored and 809 RBIs.
