Wednesday, February 4th, 2009: Rockies and Rays Agree to Swap
A trade between the Colorado Rockies and the Tampa Bay Rays was made official this morning. The Colorado Rockies have sent 22-year old starting pitcher Xavier Cedeno and 23-year old minor league shortstop Chris Nelson to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for 25-year old starting pitcher Matt Garza and 23-year old minor league center fielder Tyler Colvin.

Garza has gone 18-30 with an ERA of 4.81 in his career, piling up 266 strikeouts in 314.2 innings pitched.

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008: Rays Swap Pena to Red Sox for Marrero
The Tampa Bay Rays have finalized a deal with the Boston Red Sox for the services of 20-year old minor league left fielder Chris Marrero, 29-year old reliever Jon Switzer and 18-year old minor league shortstop Oscar Tejada. In exchange, the Red Sox will receive 30-year old first baseman Carlos Pena.

Pena has a .250 career batting average and has hit a total of 174 home runs.

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008: Tampa Bay Trades Crawford to Chicago (N) for Horne
Officials for the Tampa Bay Rays confirmed that they have traded 27-year old left fielder Carl Crawford and 32-year old shortstop Michael Young to the Chicago (N) Cubs. In return, the Rays will receive 23-year old minor league center fielder Tyler Colvin, 25-year old starting pitcher Alan Horne, 23-year old minor league catcher Josh Donaldson and 24-year old minor league first baseman Brian Dopirak.

Over his 939-game career Crawford has compiled a .301 batting average and collected 1162 hits, 69 home runs and 437 RBIs.

Horne has a won-lost record of 5 wins and 11 losses with 120 strikeouts and a lifetime 5.39 ERA.
