Friday, December 26th, 2008: Off-Field Accident Sidelines Myers
The Philadelphia Phillies will be without the services of Brett Myers for a while. He suffered back spasms recently. He reportedly injured it in a car accident.

The Philadelphia starting pitcher will be on the shelf for at least 1-2 weeks.

Over the course of his career, Myers has a won-lost record of 68 wins and 60 losses with 980 strikeouts in 1102 innings pitched with a lifetime 4.46 ERA.

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008: Off-Field Accident Injures Josh Bard
The Philadelphia Phillies told reporters this morning that Josh Bard has an undisclosed injury and will be unable to play for one week while the injury heals. He suffered the injury while awkwardly picking up his child.

"It was an unfortunate accident," said the Phillies public relations director, "Hopefully Josh will soon be back with the club."

In 511 career games Bard has batted .278 with 447 hits with 107 doubles, 6 triples and 34 home runs. He has also collected 218 RBIs and scored 177 runs.

Friday, November 14th, 2008: Howard NL's Top Hitter for 2008
In 2008 Ryan Howard was the toughest out in the National League and that is the prime reason he was voted the Most Valuable Player Award.

This season the Philadelphia first baseman rapped out 187 hits in 609 at-bats for a .307 batting average, pelted pitchers for 30 doubles, 2 triples and 66 home runs, drove in 160 runs and scored 137 times.

This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner, and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this season.
