Friday, August 29th, 2008: Stevens Records Shutout Against Blue Claws
Jeffrey Stevens put a hex on Lakewood in a sparkling 8-0 shutout performance, mesmerizing them on a 3-hit gem.

"I feel good physically," he said. "Everything's comfortable. You should pitch well when that's the case."

It was anything but comfortable for Lakewood.

"Stevens used his changeup very well, very effectively," the opposing manager said. "He threw it in hitter's counts."

The Lake County Captains hurler fanned 8 and walked 0.

In 30 starts this season Stevens has rung up a 12-12 record and a 3.23 ERA.

"I felt great out there. After the second or third inning, I got real comfortable," Thomas Fairchild said in his postgame interview. "Hopefully this is a building block for me. I'm hoping for a few more starts like this."
