| Breaking News | | Sunday, October 5th, 2008: Prior Hurls Houston to Shutout Victory It was a smooth and solid performance by Mark Prior of the Houston Astros against Atlanta today. He crafted a fine 1-hitter in blanking them 4-0 and chalked up 7 strikeouts and no walks along the way.
"It certainly makes my job easy," said the Houston skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch, and enjoy."
To date this year, Prior shows a 8-12 record, 33 starts, 182 innings, 155 strikeouts and a 4.60 ERA. | | Thursday, October 2nd, 2008: Mets Get Shutout Win Over Atlanta The New York (N) manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
He was talking about Manny Parra, who had just hurled a fine 4-hit shutout over the Atlanta Braves. He had 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in the New York (N) 8-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," the Atlanta manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
His record this season is 7-12 in 26 starts and Parra has a 4.55 ERA. | | Tuesday, September 30th, 2008: Escobar on Fire, 5-5 Against New York (N) It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Yunel Escobar. It was very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Escobar went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off New York (N) pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond at Turner Field, he had a career 5-5 day and something he will long remember. And the Atlanta Braves had a 9-3 victory over the Mets.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he laughed in the SION postgame interview.
Y. Escobar singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, doubled in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
This season in 146 games Escobar is batting .293 with 5 home runs, 53 RBIs and has scored 80 times. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
