Today the Lumber Kings downed the Timber Rattlers 9-1 as Freddie Thon sprayed hits all over Riverview Stadium in a 5-hit explosion, finishing up with 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
The Clinton first baseman said to SION reporters in the postgame interview, "It makes it easier if you get a good pitch. The odds are in your favor then, not the pitcher's. I got a bunch of very pretty pitches to hit today, and I didn't miss any of them."
F. Thon hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off J. Escalona in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off A. Bibens-Dirkx in the 8th.
So far in 2008 Thon is hitting .290 with 12 home runs, 47 RBIs and 67 runs scored. He has 158 hits and played in 132 games.

 | Tuesday, August 12th, 2008: Big Day with Bat, Moses 6-6
History in the making. That's what the fans at Pohlman Field got to see today, when Beloit outplayed the Timber Rattlers 12-2. Matt Moses of the Snappers came to the plate 6 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 6 hits against Wisconsin.
In the postgame press conference the Wisconsin skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink."
M. Moses hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off C. James in the 9th.
This season Moses is hitting .299 with 137 hits, 22 home runs, 85 RBIs, scored 67 runs and played in 116 games.
