Thursday, September 4th, 2008: Kniginyzky Fires Shutout in Burlington Victory
The Cedar Rapids Kernels were almost helpless today in their 4-0 loss to Burlington hurler Matthew Kniginyzky. He kept them confused the entire ballgame and spun a 6-hit shutout.

The Cedar Rapids manager said in the postgame interview, "Tip your hat to Kniginyzky. He kept us off balance all night."

Kniginyzky said, "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play. It was just one of those games that things went my way."

He had no walks and 7 strikeouts in a strong performance.

Kniginyzky in 2008 has fashioned a 13-12 mark, 3.07 ERA and thrown 219.2 innings in 30 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .262 against him.

Monday, August 11th, 2008: Potent Bat Pays Off, Ryan Player of the Week
All week long Matt Ryan was the toughest out in the Midwest League and that is the prime reason he was voted the Player of the Week.

The Cedar Rapids first baseman rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats for a .833 batting average, drove in 4 runs and scored 6 times.

Thus far this season in 82 games Ryan is batting .275 with 3 home runs, 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored. He has 22 hits in 80 at-bats.
