Wednesday, November 12th, 2008: Chamberlain Is This Year's Top Rookie
Joba Chamberlain's young age didn't show very often in his first year. He performed more like a veteran on the hill for the New York (A) Yankees and today he walked away with the 2008 American League Rookie of the Year Award.

The 23-year-old starter registered a 14-6 record this season in 32 starts. Over 186 innings he gave up 174 hits, struck out 231 and issued 92 walks as he held the opposition to a .246 batting average and etched a 4.02 ERA. His award-winning numbers made him the SBWA's premier newcomer.

Chamberlain will be honored at the group's annual awards banquet this weekend.
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008: Yankees Lose Posada for 2 Weeks
After injuring himself, Yankees catcher Jorge Posada headed straight to the hospital. He was removed from the game as a precaution after running the bases and the team's worst fears were confirmed when it turned out to be a little more serious. Posada will miss at least 2 weeks with a strained calf muscle.

Posada on the season is batting .340 with 13 home runs. His totals include 92 RBIs and 83 runs scored. He has played in 128 games.
Monday, September 15th, 2008: Yovani Gallardo Out for 1-2 Weeks
"It was kinda freaky. Hopefully, I'll be back in the lineup soon," said a dejected Yovani Gallardo after injuring himself in a game against Baltimore. The New York (A) manager told SION reporters, "He will miss up to 1-2 weeks with a tender shoulder." The Yankees will have to decide over the next day or two whether the starting pitcher will go on the disabled list.

In 30 starts this year Gallardo has posted 19 wins while suffering 5 losses. He has pitched 190 innings, allowed 179 hits, struck out 151 and has a 3.93 ERA.
