Monday, September 1st, 2008: Pelicans Hurler Named August's #1 Starter
Donavon Hendricks certainly found a groove in August. The Myrtle Beach starter posted 5 wins last month to easily claim the Carolina League Pitcher of the Month.

During the month Hendricks was 5-1 with a 2.11 ERA. He made 6 starts, tossed 47 innings and had 17 strikeouts.

This year Hendricks has worked 203.2 innings with 73 strikeouts en route to a 13-11 record and 3.18 ERA.

Monday, September 1st, 2008: Myrtle Beach's Creek Winner, CAR Best Hitter in August
Greg Creek hit the baseball with consistency all month long and was voted the Carolina League's Batter of the Month for August.

The Myrtle Beach first baseman batted .330 and posted 1 home run, 13 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He also drew 9 walks for a .385 OBP.

Looking at his season stats, Creek has compiled a .254 batting average and a .325 on-base percentage, while hitting 5 home runs and driving in 47 runs.
