Friday, August 29th, 2008: Valdez Shuts Out Oaks
"I felt great out there. After the second or third inning, I got real comfortable," Jose Valdez said in his postgame interview. "Hopefully this is a building block for me. I'm hoping for a few more starts like this."

The San Jose hurler scored a 4-0 shutout victory over the Oaks, stopping them on 5 hits. He rung up 5 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk in today's performance.

Thursday, August 28th, 2008: Becktel Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
At John Thurman Field Travis Becktel was the King of Swing today in the 5-4 win over the Oaks.

The Modesto right fielder stepped into the batter's box 6 times against the Visalia and delivered 5 hits.

It was a sensational game for him. He excitedly told the press, "Unbelieveable feeling. Unbelieveable. It felt good. It felt great. What a day! 5 for 6! It does wonders for your batting average, too."

T. Becktel singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit a two-run home run off M. Fowles in the 10th.

Hitting .265 to date, Becktel has 1 home run and 36 RBIs. He has played in 122 games.

This week's best performer in the California League was third baseman Andrew Fie of the Visalia Oaks.
