| Breaking News |  | Monday, September 8th, 2008: California League Player of the Week Selected
Jorge Sandes punched, poked and pummeled the baseball last week and today he garnered a majority of the votes for the California League Player of the Week award.
The Modesto Nuts left fielder slashed out a .433 average with 13 hits in 30 at-bats, 2 home runs and 5 RBIs.
Thus far this season Sandes is hitting .405 with 3 home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 53 hits in 131 at-bats and has played in 81 games.

| Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008: 5-Hits Blitz by Modesto's Sandes!
Somedays you can't win for losing. Just ask Jorge Sandes. He was the King of Swing in the game against the Giants, but his Nuts were beaten 8-5 anyway.
The Modesto left fielder stepped into the batter's box 5 times against the San Jose and delivered 5 hits.
It was a sensational game for him. He excitedly told the press, "Unbelieveable feeling. Unbelieveable. It felt good. It felt great on the one hand, but a downer at the same time. What a day! 5 for 5! It does wonders for your batting average. But it's a shame we couldn't win it, too."
J. Sandes singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off R. Paul in the 8th.
Sandes is batting .435 this year with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 50 hits in 115 at-bats.

 | Monday, September 1st, 2008: California League Names #1 Pitcher in August
The California League made it official today -- Shane Lindsay of the Modesto Nuts is the Pitcher of the Month. In August he impressed the sportswriters with his domination of league hitters.
Lindsay made 6 starts, registered 5 wins and no losses with a solid 1.22 ERA. In 37 innings he allowed 18 hits, racked up 42 strikeouts, walked 17 and permitted teams to hit .141 against him.
In season stats Lindsay shows a 16-2 record in 28 games, 173.2 innings, 184 strikeouts and a 2.28 ERA.
