| Breaking News | | Monday, October 6th, 2008: Corpus Christi's Wesson Wins TEX TEX MVP In 2008 Barry Wesson was the toughest out in the Texas League and that is the prime reason he was voted the TEX MVP.
This season the Corpus Christi left fielder rapped out 148 hits in 491 at-bats for a .301 batting average, pelted pitchers for 19 doubles, 3 triples and 16 home runs, drove in 63 runs and scored 84 times.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner, and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this season. | | Monday, September 1st, 2008: TEX Honors Corpus Christi Left Fielder Wesson swung a blistering bat last week for the Corpus Christi Hooks, rapping out 10 hits in 23 at-bats against Corpus Christi opponents to propel himself to the Texas League Player of the Week Award.
Whenever the left fielder hit the ball, he hit it with authority. The 32-year-old racked up a .435 batting average (10-23) with 3 home runs, 5 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
Wesson is hitting .309 so far this season with 60 RBIs and 79 runs scored. He has 145 hits including 15 home runs, 38 walks and .358 OBP. | | Tuesday, August 26th, 2008: Great Day for Blalock! 5 Hits! If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Jake Blalock showed how it's done as he went 5 for 5 against the Corpus Christi Hooks and helped the Frisco Rough Riders beat them 9-4.
The manager for the Hooks told the SION sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Blalock keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
J. Blalock singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
This season Blalock is batting .298 with 110 hits, 2 home runs, 39 RBIs, .372 OBP and has scored 54 runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
