Saturday, August 16th, 2008: McFarland Slams 5 Hits for San Antonio
It seemed that San Antonio center fielder Doug McFarland could do no wrong as the Missions kayoed the Drillers 7-5 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Tulsa pitchers couldn't get him out as McFarland seemed to know which pitches they were throwing.

"I think the Missions were stealing signs." growled one unhappy Tulsa fan.

"I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play." exclaimed the jubilant McFarland in the postgame press interview.

D. McFarland singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 9th, singled in the 11th and singled in the 14th.

Thus far this year McFarland is batting .246 with 10 home runs, 48 RBIs and 46 runs scored.
Monday, August 11th, 2008: McFarland on the Attack, Player of the Week
What a performance by Doug McFarland of the San Antonio Missions! The center fielder really tore up Texas League pitching and easily claimed the Player of the Week Award.

The 18-year-old hit .455 with 1 home run and 4 RBIs. For the week he was 10-22 and scored 2 runs.

McFarland is batting .245 this season in 97 games with 10 home runs, 47 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has 79 hits in 322 at-bats.
Wednesday, August 6th, 2008: Carrillo Sharp, Whitewashes Hooks
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad batting.

In his postgame interview the Corpus Christi manager said, "Cesar Carrillo made us look real bad today. He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Carrillo had 4 strikeouts, no walks and allowed only 6 hits as the San Antonio Missions whitewashed the Corpus Christi Hooks 8-0.

In 2008 Carrillo has posted a record of 9 wins and 8 losses with a 2.85 ERA. He has appeared in 26 games and struck out 126 in 161.1 innings.
