Monday, September 15th, 2008: Broxton Involved in Accident
The Los Angeles (N) Dodgers told reporters this morning that Jonathan Broxton has a pinched nerve and will be unable to play for 1-2 weeks while the injury heals. He suffered the injury after his dog suddenly took off running while he was walking him on a leash.

"It was an unfortunate accident," said the Dodgers public relations director, "Hopefully Jonathan will soon be back with the club."

This year Broxton has 21 saves in 50 relief appearances with a 3-3 record and 3.55 ERA.

Monday, September 8th, 2008: National League Names #1 Player
George Lombard went on a hitting rampage last week against National League pitchers and collected the Player of the Week Award.

The Los Angeles (N) left fielder connected for 8 hits in 15 at-bats and 3 home runs. For the week he hit .533 with 8 RBIs and scored 9 runs.

This year Lombard is hitting .239, produced 29 RBIs and 8 home runs, scored 45 times and gotten on base at a .340 rate.

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008: Lowe Guns down San Diego
In a splendid 6-0 shutout performance, Derek Lowe of the Los Angeles (N) Dodgers subdued the San Diego Padres on a 3-hitter.

His manager said in postgame comments, "He kept hitting his spots and putting up zeroes."

Lowe registered 7 strikeouts and 2 walks.

In 26 starts this season, Lowe has picked up 8 wins while suffering 14 losses. He has pitched 159.1 innings, allowed 151 hits, struck out 107 and posted a 4.12 ERA.
