Friday, October 10th, 2008: SL's Best Hitter for 2008 Named
His teammates, fans, peers and even the voters all agreed that Jonny Gomes was worthy of the 2008 Southern League SL MVP.

The Montgomery right fielder was a bonafide batting machine as he racked up a .290 average, 88 hits, 19 doubles, 5 triples, 17 home runs, 60 RBIs, 56 runs, 49 walks and a .405 OBP.

The annual SBWA awards dinner is this weekend. All of the major award winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season.

Monday, September 1st, 2008: Red-Hot August Lands Gomes Batting Prize in SL
August's outstanding offensive player in the Southern League has been picked and the honor goes to the Montgomery right fielder Jonny Gomes.

He won the award by batting .268, hitting 6 home runs, knocking in 23 runs and scoring 25 times.

This season Gomes is hitting at a .290 pace with 14 home runs, 51 RBIs and has scored 49 times.
