Thursday, October 9th, 2008: SL's Top Pitcher is Miller
Jacksonville's Adam Miller took home the 2008 Southern League SL Pitcher of the Year earlier today for a remarkable season on the mound.

With a record of 18-11, Miller was certainly a worthy winner. He made 31 starts and rang up 205.2 innings, 180 strikeouts and a 3.41 ERA.

The SION Baseball Writers Association will present his trophy to him at the annual gathering this weekend.

Friday, September 26th, 2008: Carolina Triumphs in Round 2
Carolina did well in regular season play, but they did even better in the postseason -- they won the whole shebang -- finishing off the Jacksonville Suns in the Round 2 4-3 to claim the crown for the 1st time.

In the elimination game today at Five County Stadium, the Mudcats polished off Jacksonville 5-4 to win the Southern League championship.

In the North Division pennant race, the Carolina compiled a 80-60 record and came in first.

Monday, September 8th, 2008: Red-Hot Rampage Reaps SL Reward
When Travis Denker stepped into the batter's box, he meant business. His outstanding play this week has netted the Jacksonville second baseman the well-deserved Southern League Player of the Week Award.

Playing in 5 games he lashed out a .750 average with 6 hits, 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

This season Denker is hitting .204 with 30 hits, 4 home runs, 29 RBIs, scored 14 runs and played in 94 games.
