Friday, September 26th, 2008: Carolina Triumphs in Round 2
Carolina did well in regular season play, but they did even better in the postseason -- they won the whole shebang -- finishing off the Jacksonville Suns in the Round 2 4-3 to claim the crown for the 1st time.

In the elimination game today at Five County Stadium, the Mudcats polished off Jacksonville 5-4 to win the Southern League championship.

In the North Division pennant race, the Carolina compiled a 80-60 record and came in first.

Monday, August 18th, 2008: 6-Hit Game for Restko!
Who needs batting practice? J.T. Restko of Carolina apparently doesn't as he battered Birmingham with a 6-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 21-8 win.

He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 6 for 6 day... will my name be in the record books now?"

J. Restko walked in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off M. Long in the 9th.

Thus far this year Restko is hitting .277 with 10 home runs, 52 RBIs and 59 runs scored.

Monday, August 18th, 2008: Carolina's Mitchell Gets SL Player of the Week
Lee Mitchell more than did his part for the Carolina Mudcats over the last seven days and earned Southern League Player of the Week honors in the process.

The club's third baseman logged an impressive .524 average, drove in 7 runs, hit 1 home run and scored 5 times.

This season Mitchell is batting .279 with 68 RBIs, 61 runs scored and 16 home runs.
