Friday, August 22nd, 2008: Bernadina Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book.

In the Senators 10-1 win over Akron, Rogearvin Bernadina was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Commerce Bank Park.

"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."

On his record-setting day Bernadina delivered 5 hits in 5 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.

R. Bernadina doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a two-run triple in the 8th.

This season Bernadina is hitting .281 with 3 home runs.
