| Breaking News |  | Sunday, August 31st, 2008: Smith at His Best, Blanks New Britain
After his 5-0 shutout win against the Rock Cats, Chris M. Smith said, "I went out there to try and eat up innings and help out our bullpen. I felt I had my good stuff... and it turned out my command was solid and my breaking balls were good."
They were better than good as the Sea Dogs pitcher put up 3 strikeouts, surrendered 1 walk, allowed 6 hits and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.
So far this season Smith has 5 wins and 19 losses and a 4.31 ERA.

Ross Ohlendorf of the Trenton Thunder was masterful today, pitching a 4-hit 9-0 shutout against the Portland Sea Dogs and giving his bullpen a rest by going the the distance.
According to his manager, "He had command of every ball and every pitch . . . great location, too." Ohlendorf had 6 strikeouts and issued 1 walk in an impressive outing.
This season Ohlendorf has worked 187 innings with 124 strikeouts en route to a 11-6 record and a 2.36 ERA.

Trenton's Steven Jackson brought his "A game" to the park, shutting down and shutting out the Portland Sea Dogs 1-0. He racked up 9 strikeouts, surrendered 1 hit and issued no walks on his way to the victory.
