Monday, September 29th, 2008: EL Pitcher of the Year Goes to Hedrick
Justin Hedrick of the Connecticut Defenders had a tremendous season and was chosen the EL Pitcher of the Year winner in the Eastern League.

He crafted a standout 16-6 mark in 32 starts, striking out 175, while walking 65. He worked 206 innings, yielded 162 hits and a .216 team batting average and posted a 2.88 ERA.

For his standout season Hedrick will be honored at the annual SION Baseball Writers Association awards banquet this weekend.

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008: Harrisburg Tops Connecticut
There is great joy in Harrisburg today after the Senators thumped Connecticut 2-0 to cop the 2008 Eastern League Round 1. They defeated the Defenders 3-2 to take the series.

This was the 1st time Harrisburg has garnered the league title. During the regular season the Senators chalked up a 84-58 mark and finished up in first place in the Southern Division.

Monday, September 1st, 2008: EL's #1 Player Named
It was an exceptional week for Dave Foster of the Connecticut Defenders.

First he beats the devil out of the ball, hitting .733 and you would expect, he is voted the Player of the Week in the Eastern League. Last week Foster went 11-15, notched 2 home runs and 6 RBIs and scored 5 runs. All in all, a very good week for him.

This year Foster is batting .265 with 12 home runs and 37 RBIs.
