| Breaking News | | Monday, September 8th, 2008: EL Names Top Player of the Week The Eastern League presented its most recent Player of the Week Award to New Hampshire Fisher Cats right fielder Eric Nielsen.
"His numbers speak for themselves," a club publicist said. "He's been really seeing the ball well."
Indeed, Nielsen has. Last week he went 10 for 25, batted .400 with 1 home run and 9 RBIs.
Looking at his stats this year, Nielsen has compiled a .271 batting average, while hitting 7 home runs and driving in 46 runs. He has played in 131 games and scored 64 runs. | | Sunday, August 10th, 2008: Harrisburg Whitewashes New Hampshire, Speigner Winner Levale Speigner of the Harrisburg Senators spun his magic on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats today. He blanked them 5-0 on 1 hit, registering 5 strikeouts and no walks.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Speigner said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, the Harrisburg skipper said, "We got solid pitching, good defense and we took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations. This was just a solid performance by everyone."
In 23 starts this season Speigner has notched a 14-3 record and a 2.72 ERA. | | Saturday, August 9th, 2008: Big Day for Orr! Swats 5 Hits! It was a good day for the Senators at Commerce Bank Park as they clipped the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 9-0. It was tremendous day for Pete Orr, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 5 barrage.
The Harrisburg second baseman told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."
P. Orr singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This year Orr has hit at a .266 clip with 97 hits, 5 home runs, 42 RBIs and 45 runs scored. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
