Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008: New Britain Blanks Binghamton
Errol Simonitsch of the New Britain Rock Cats was right on target when he blanked the Binghamton Mets 4-0, yielded 6 hits and totaled 1 walk and 5 strikeouts.

Speaking to SION reporters after the game, Simonitsch said, "I had everything working today and I got some help from my defense, too. They saved my butt a few times."

Up to now Simonitsch has compiled an ERA of 4.34 with a 9-8 mark over 24 starts. He has 83 strikeouts in 153.1 innings and has held opponents to a .272 batting average.

Sunday, August 31st, 2008: Smith at His Best, Blanks New Britain
After his 5-0 shutout win against the Rock Cats, Chris M. Smith said, "I went out there to try and eat up innings and help out our bullpen. I felt I had my good stuff... and it turned out my command was solid and my breaking balls were good."

They were better than good as the Sea Dogs pitcher put up 3 strikeouts, surrendered 1 walk, allowed 6 hits and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.

So far this season Smith has 5 wins and 19 losses and a 4.31 ERA.
