Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008: New Britain Blanks Binghamton
Errol Simonitsch of the New Britain Rock Cats was right on target when he blanked the Binghamton Mets 4-0, yielded 6 hits and totaled 1 walk and 5 strikeouts.

Speaking to SION reporters after the game, Simonitsch said, "I had everything working today and I got some help from my defense, too. They saved my butt a few times."

Up to now Simonitsch has compiled an ERA of 4.34 with a 9-8 mark over 24 starts. He has 83 strikeouts in 153.1 innings and has held opponents to a .272 batting average.
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008: Martis Does His Job Perfectly
The dictionary defines perfection as "an unsurpassable degree of excellence." Harrisburg Senators starter Shairon Martis achieved that goal today when he threw a perfect game against Binghamton, beating them 2-0.

"I knew when I took the mound today that I felt good," Martis said to reporters after the game. "I had no idea that I felt that good!"

Martis struck out 7, walked no one and allowed no hits en route to his historic gem. He retired 27 batters in a row.

This season Martis has crafted a 14-12 mark with a 3.04 ERA in 201.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .239 against him and he has 126 strikeouts.
Thursday, August 7th, 2008: Bernadina Raps Binghamton for 5 Hits
Rogearvin Bernadina was on quite a roll today as he knocked the ball all over the park, collecting 5 hits and leading the Senators to a 15-4 victory over the Binghamton Mets.

After the first three hits, all eyes in the ballpark were drawn to him each time he stepped into the batter's box. Even a few of the opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little baseball-hitting history unfold.

In the clubhouse, crowded by reporters, the Harrisburg left fielder said, "I never realized that batting a little ball around could cause so much commotion." When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and replied, "The key to hitting for a high average is to relax, concentrate and hit the ball where they ain't."

Nobody was at home today as Bernadina finished the day with 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a line in the record book.

R. Bernadina singled in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.

Bernadina is hitting .271 in 2008 with 3 home runs, 30 RBIs and 51 runs scored. He has 90 hits in 332 at-bats and played in 86 games.
