Friday, August 29th, 2008: Rainiers Blanked by Sidewinders
Micah Owings bent a little, but he didn't break against the Rainiers. The Tucson pitcher hurled a 3-hit 2-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 1 walk and putting up 8 strikeouts.

"Micah is good at getting out of jams," his manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008: Buckner on Top of His Game
The Tacoma Rainiers met their match today in Tucson hurler Billy Buckner. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 2-hit shutout.

"He just worked us over," the Tacoma skipper said. "He probably didn't even take a shower after the game. I don't think he even worked up a sweat. They could probably pitch him again tomorrow."

In the 1-0 victory Buckner whiffed 6 and gave up no walks.

This year Buckner has a 6-7 record with a 4.08 ERA in 20 starts.

Saturday, August 9th, 2008: Iowa Shuts Out Tucson
An efficient outing for Sean Gallagher usually means a win for Iowa. Today was no exception, as the 22-year-old starter held Tucson to a long line of goose eggs. He struck out 7 and gave up 4 hits in the 6-0 shutout.

So far this season Gallagher has compiled a 14-7 record with a 2.96 ERA.
