Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008: Espineli Fires Shutout in Grizzlies Win
Eugene Espineli had the Sacramento River Cats dancing to his tune today with a sparkling 2-0 shutout performance for the Fresno Grizzlies. He gave up 3 hits and collected 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.

Sacramento hitters were bewildered throughout the game by his delivery.

The opposing manager said, "When you face a guy who hides the ball like he does, it takes a couple of at-bats to try to find his release point. We just never figured him out."

This season-to-date Espineli has 10 wins and 10 losses and a 4.17 ERA.

Friday, August 8th, 2008: Barzilla Bewilders Grizzlies
In an excellent mound performance, Phil Barzilla of the Round Rock Express whitewashed the Fresno Grizzlies 1-0 on a 4-hitter.

He said after the game, "I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches."

The Fresno manager said, "We just didn't swing the bats well today. Barzilla did a good job keeping us guessing."

In all, the Round Rock hurler rang up 3 strikeouts and no walks in the shutout win.

In the 2008 season Barzilla has recorded a 7-12 mark. In 23 starts he has fanned 81 batters in 132.1 innings with a 4.62 ERA.
