Sunday, October 5th, 2008: Prior Hurls Houston to Shutout Victory
It was a smooth and solid performance by Mark Prior of the Houston Astros against Atlanta today. He crafted a fine 1-hitter in blanking them 4-0 and chalked up 7 strikeouts and no walks along the way.

"It certainly makes my job easy," said the Houston skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch, and enjoy."

To date this year, Prior shows a 8-12 record, 33 starts, 182 innings, 155 strikeouts and a 4.60 ERA.

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008: NL's Best Batter Picked
Hot-hitting center fielder Hunter Pence of the Astros really pounded National League pitchers in September, winning the Batter of the Month award.

He hit .343 with 8 home runs, 31 RBIs, 21 runs scored and 8 walks to finish with a .385 on-base percentage.

This year Pence is batting .310 with 21 home runs and 93 RBIs. In 137 games he has scored 94 times.

Thursday, September 25th, 2008: Ouch! Miguel Tejada Shelved by Injury
The Houston Astros will have to make do without Miguel Tejada for 2 weeks. He suffered a strained achilles tendon while running the bases in the game today against the St. Louis Cardinals. His teammates, understandably, were upset about losing the shortstop. "That's a tough break for him," one of them said. "But this team is resilient. We will just fill in until he gets back." Tejada will miss 2 weeks.

This year Tejada is batting .270 with 145 hits and 14 home runs. He has scored 67 times and has batted in 60 runs.
