Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008: River Cats Win Round 2
"Anticipatin' celebratin'" was the Sacramento clubhouse slogan for the Round 2 this year -- and celebrate they did, when they beat the Portland Beavers 4-1 in the series.

The River Cats won the deciding game today 9-7 at Raley Field for their 1st Pacific Coast League crown.

During the 2008 regular season, they registered a 78-66 mark and finished first in the Pacific South race.

Monday, September 1st, 2008: PCL Star of the Week Picked
Over the past week, Drew Macias has feasted on Pacific Coast League pitching. Today the Portland Beavers right fielder gobbled up the league's latest Player of the Week Award.

Macias swung the bat with purpose all week as he collected a .478 average, 11 hits in 23 at-bats, 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 8 runs scored.

Macias is hitting .278 this season with 9 home runs, 48 RBIs and 58 runs scored. He has 99 hits in 356 at-bats.

Thursday, August 28th, 2008: Dunlap Slaps 5 Hits
The 51s whipped the Beavers 16-8 at Cashman Field and Cory Dunlap had a big hand in the win. The 51s first baseman came to the plate 6 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Dunlap and a tough day for Portland.

"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."

Plan or not, Dunlap delivered today -- 5-6 is outstanding in any league.

C. Dunlap grounded out in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

This year Dunlap is hitting .237, produced 62 RBIs and 8 home runs, scored 59 times and gotten on base at a .317 rate.
