| Breaking News | _Mets.jpg) | Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008: Chavez Goes 5-5 Against Oklahoma "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Endy Chavez after his 5-hit performance against the Redhawks. "No offense meant to Oklahoma, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Zephyr Field!"
The New Orleans center fielder had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 11-6 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Endy worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Chavez said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
E. Chavez hit an RBI single in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off A. Murray in the 9th.
This year Chavez has batted at a .349 pace with 30 hits, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and scored 15 times. | _Mets.jpg) | Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008: On a Roll, Chavez Hits for the Cycle It was a special day for Endy Chavez at Zephyr Field.
