Monday, August 25th, 2008: PCL's Best Player Named
Alejandro De Aza of the Albuquerque Isotopes had a big week with the bat and today was voted the Player of the Week by the Pacific Coast League.

For the week De Aza batted .577 (15-26) with 1 home run and 6 RBIs.

Looking at his 2008 season stats, De Aza has compiled a .265 batting average in 116 games with a .321 on-base percentage, while hitting 10 home runs and driving in 52 runs.

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008: Albuquerque Blanks Cubs, Trahern Wins
The Iowa Cubs struggled at the plate today against Isotopes hurler Dallas Trahern, who shackled them on 6 hits while hurling a complete game 4-0 shutout.

"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said the Cubs skipper in his postgame comments.

"Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."

Trahern finished the game with 9 strikeouts and no walks in an excellent mound performance.

"He pitched real well," his manager said. "Dallas made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."

So far this year Trahern has made 25 starts, tossed 179 innings, struck out 118 batters and walked 26. His record is 12-10 with a 2.82 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .222 batting average.

Monday, August 4th, 2008: PCL Votes Albuquerque First Baseman Top Player
With some great hand-eye coordination and a sweet, compact swing, Albuquerque Isotopes first baseman Gaby Sanchez took the Pacific Coast League by storm this past week to take the latest Player of the Week honors.

"The ball was looking like a beach ball all week," a happy Sanchez said to SION reporters. "When it's that big, it doesn't matter where they throw it -- I can hit it anywhere."

The 24-year-old first baseman hit .517 (15-29) last week with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

This season Sanchez is swinging the bat at a .280 pace. He has hit 12 home runs and scored 56 times, while driving in 51. His on-base percentage is .345 and he has played in 109 games.
