| Breaking News | | Friday, September 26th, 2008: Mud Hens Win 2008 Round 2 This is the time of the year, when grown men are sometimes reduced to tears. This year the Toledo Mud Hens shed tears of joy and the Syracuse Sky Chiefs shed some sad ones, all because of a baseball game.
The Mud Hens eliminated the Sky Chiefs today 4-3 at Fifth Third Field and locked up their 2nd International League Round 2 championship, winning the series 4-2.
The Mud Hens finished up the regular season in the West Division with a 79-65 record, ending up in first place in the division standings. | | Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008: Toledo's Sleeth Stands Out in Shutout Kyle Sleeth of the Toledo Mud Hens shut down the Indianapolis Indians 5-0 on an excellent 3-hitter, holding them scoreless while ringing up 8 strikeouts and allowing no walks.
After the game Sleeth said, "Guys have been fouling off a lot of pitches lately and I've been getting into too many deep pitch counts, but I'm pleased with the way things went today. I went right after them and stayed ahead in the count."
This year Sleeth has gone 7-2 with an ERA of 3.02 and has 49 strikeouts in 92.1 innings. | | Monday, August 25th, 2008: Bautista Fires No-Hitter! In a dominant outing, Denny Bautista of Toledo totally silenced the bats of the Charlotte Knights. In the 3-0 victory he faced only 30 batters, surrendered no hits, had 3 strikeouts and 3 walks.
"I'll be very honest with you," his manager said. "I didn't know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning. I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had. Then I happened to notice that they didn't have any hits."
Commenting on his defeat, the losing manager told reporters in the clubhouse how he saw the game, "Well, it was pretty simple today, the Mud Hens had all the hits and all the runs. And Bautista pitched a heck of ballgame."
This year Bautista has made 26 starts, thrown 144.2 innings, fanned 95 batters and walked 74. His won-lost record is 9-9 with a 4.48 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Ricky Steik | fractured elbow | 4 months | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
