Monday, August 25th, 2008: IL Player of the Week Named
24-year-old Drew Anderson dominated the Louisville headlines during this past week as the rookie second baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and International League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.

He cracked 13 hits in 28 at-bats to put up a .464 average. Anderson collected 1 home run, 4 RBIs and scored 5 runs.

In 130 games this season Anderson is batting .266 with 141 hits and 11 home runs. He has scored 60 runs and driven in 66.

Friday, August 22nd, 2008: Razor-Sharp Maloney Blanks Columbus
Matt Maloney pitched a strong game in blanking the Columbus Clippers 5-0, allowed no runs on 3 hits, totaled 10 strikeouts and gave up no walks.

The Louisville manager said he could tell right away it was going to be a good game for Maloney. "Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," he said. "He threw a lot of strikes."

This year Maloney has a 7-8 mark in 29 starts with a 4.02 ERA. He has given up 210 hits in 190.1 innings, struck out 120 and issued 50 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .278 batting average against him.
