Thursday, October 9th, 2008: Sky Chiefs Ace, IL Pitcher of the Year Winner
Davis Romero had a terrific 2008 season in the International League. The Syracuse pitching stalwart received the most votes and has been proclaimed this year's IL Pitcher of the Year winner.

The Sky Chiefs ace starred with an impressive 20-7 record. In 34 starts he gave up 200 base hits and struck out 137 in 213.2 innings with a 2.86 ERA. Teams could only hit .248 against him.

The SION Baseball Writers Association will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting.

Friday, September 26th, 2008: Mud Hens Win 2008 Round 2
This is the time of the year, when grown men are sometimes reduced to tears.
This year the Toledo Mud Hens shed tears of joy and the Syracuse Sky Chiefs shed some sad ones, all because of a baseball game.

The Mud Hens eliminated the Sky Chiefs today 4-3 at Fifth Third Field and locked up their 2nd International League Round 2 championship, winning the series 4-2.

The Mud Hens finished up the regular season in the West Division with a 79-65 record, ending up in first place in the division standings.

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008: Richmond Befuddled by Litsch
"He was kind of teasing them with his offspeed stuff and his fastball was moving everywhere," the Syracuse skipper said in postgame comments after Jesse Litsch had shut out the Richmond Braves 2-0 on a 2-hit masterpiece.

Litsch numbered 7 strikeouts and issued no walks in a gem of a performance.

"We just didn't swing the bats very well . . . or he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," complained the Richmond manager after the defeat.

To date this season, Litsch has a record of 18 wins and 14 losses and a 3.90 ERA. He has appeared in 34 games and struck out 116 in 228.1 innings.
