Sunday, March 22nd, 2009: Reynolds Sidelined for 7 Weeks
Medical officials from the Arizona Diamondbacks reported that the club's 25-year-old third baseman, Mark Reynolds, suffered a strained bicep muscle in yesterday's matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies while throwing the ball. Reynolds is expected to miss 7 weeks of action.

Monday, September 1st, 2008: Lee 5-6 for Padres
Who needs batting practice? Carlos Lee of San Diego apparently doesn't as he battered Arizona with a 5-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 2-1 win.

He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 6 day... will my name be in the record books now?"

C. Lee singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off J. Gutierrez in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, doubled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and hit a solo-shot off C. Qualls in the 12th.

So far this season Lee has gotten 142 hits in 475 at-bats for a .299 batting average with 22 home runs. His stats include 77 RBIs and 68 runs scored. He has played in 128 games.
Monday, September 1st, 2008: NL Pitcher of the Month Goes to Webb
In August when the Arizona manager wrote the name "Webb" on the lineup card, he knew he had a good shot at winning. Start after start in the month, Brandon Webb took the hill, took charge and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 5-0 mark and 1.85 ERA in 6 starts. The gifted Diamondbacks star pitched 39 innings, fanned 33 and held opposing teams to a .225 average.

For his outstanding mound performance Webb was named the NL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

This year Webb has made 27 starts, thrown 186 innings, fanned 156 batters and walked 57. His won-lost record is 14-8 with a 2.85 ERA.
