MID unveiled their 2009 schedule earlier today, as the preseason kicks off, and clubs ready for spring training and a rigorous exhibition schedule.

 | Friday, October 10th, 2008: MID's Top Hitter for 2008 Named
Jason Hart was hitting on all cylinders in 2008, making Peoria a very happy organization. He put up some phenomenal marks this year and was awarded the Midwest League's MID MVP today.
The first baseman piled up 160 hits, 23 doubles, no triples, 27 home runs and 104 runs batted in as he pieced together his .294 batting average.
For being named the MID's top hitter, Hart will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend.

 | Thursday, October 9th, 2008: MID Pitcher of the Year Goes to Shaver
This season's Midwest League MID Pitcher of the Year trophy went to Chris Shaver, the ace of the Peoria pitching staff.
He dominated all season, finishing up with 16 wins and 8 losses and a 2.43 ERA. In 30 starts he worked a total of 218.1 innings, striking out 192 while walking 53. Other clubs only managed to hit .231 against him.
Chris Shaver will be honored this weekend at the SION Baseball Writers Association annual awards banquet.
