After the doctor informed the New York (N) Mets manager that Reyes was expected to miss 1-2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the shortstop could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
| | Saturday, March 28th, 2009: Right Fielder Josh Hamilton Hurt It took the Cincinnati team doctor a while to realize it, but right fielder Josh Hamilton won't simply play through a fractured ulna after he got hurt making a defensive play in today's Braves-Reds game. At first, it looked like Hamilton might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 5-6 weeks. A spokesman for the club described the loss of Hamilton as a blow, but was confident that he'd be back soon.
